Prevention and Education Committee
The purpose of the P&E Committee is to communicate the key messages on brain injury and prevention to the general public. We accomplish this through several of our programs. The school program takes our education to the public and high schools. Our Executive Director provides some education of local service clubs and the committee is involved in several community based displays and helmet fitting at bike rodeos.
At the present time we are distributing our H.E.L.P. – the Health Emergency Lifesaving Pouch, which holds personal health information about the owner which they then place inside their helmets so they can be identified by safety personnel if involved in an accident and are unable to respond for themselves. We are also working on an education video to support safe play, good choices and wearing the gear to reduce brain injuries while involved in activities, which may increase ones risk for brain injury. Our committee is working jointly with the Fundraising Committee on “Storming the Hill” a snowboarding and skiing event scheduled for February 26, 2006. Stay tuned for more details.
The Brain Injury Association is proud to work with community supporters to bring Lidz on Kidz to the K-W region. The goal of this project is to supply helmets to kids who can't afford them.
